At the start of the final table, Ivey sat as the second most short-stacked player with only about 100K in chips. An early double up paved way to his journey to the chip lead position. By the time there were only five players seated, he won a monster pot, making him the play with most chips. The heads-up match occurred between Ivey and John Monnette. The two battled against each other for at least three hours. In the final hand, Monnette called Ivey’s all-in re-raise. In the end, Monnette’s double 7s lost to Ivey’s 7-low.

Winning the WSOP Event #8 earned Ivey a spot in the 11 feared poker players with at least six WSOP bracelets. In his entire career, he earned over $10 million in tournaments. This placed him in the top ten of the All Time Money List.
